about

"I had always dug Bert Kaempfert, just hadn't realised. Then... er, I did. Anyway that's where the cover came from, those lovely old sixties Polydor releases, I used to spread them out on the floor and gaze at them adoringly.
The song came primarily from that 'cello bass line, and i found myself in the luxurious position of endlessly adding stuff to it just to see what fit, without the tape going out squdged up.
I'd just bought this new multitrack with money I found in a dead man's jacket pocket. Lovely clear sound it had, an awesome improvement upon my four track cassette-based multitrack, which had itself been a considerable step up from shouting into a Pifco mic whilst simlutaneously recording the previous track playing from a loudspeaker."
Pifco never made microphones, they make hairdryers and electric shoe polishers and things. "Ah... I see. If only I'd known."

lyrics

SAM & PETE & SYD

Sam and Pete and Sydney Sipho
live in their small flat together
walk and talk and eat together
live and breathe and sleep together

Daddy is a part-time popstar
and mummy's into Permaculture
and when they go out they go out
and when they stay in, they're in
and when they're not sure they're in doubt
and when they're secure they feel lovely within

and I feel love with your wonderful learning curve
yeah, I'm in love for your beautiful learning curve
and I feel love with your wonderful learning curve
yeah, I'm in love for your beautiful learning curve

Oh Sydney - you are the Sipho, you are the Sipho

I look out of the window
all right - I look at the trees
they make me dream
oh yeah, oh yeah, ow ,yeah

Oh Sydney - you are the Sipho, you are the Sipho

Ah! Records Nasty, UK

Ah! Records is officially the least successful record label of all time. Plagued for 30 years by bad luck, criminality, drug- induced recklessness and vandalism, only founders Bill Easton & Andy Matthews' belief in the merits of these releases have ensured Ah!'s continuity. Currently a toilet on a houseboat in Portugal, the office of Ah! introduces these gems to a new generation via bandcamp. x ... more
